In today’s environment of volatility and change, it is reassuring to know customers and all other stakeholders have been able to deal with the same executive management team for the past 8 years, whom have a combined working experience of close to 160 years in mining and materials handling spanning all continents of the world.

Mark Coughlan, Chief Executive Officer

Mark Coughlan is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the mining and professional services sectors. Mark has been employed within the Byrnecut Group for over 10 years in various Senior Management positions spanning across finance, commercials, and operations. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Murray Engineering in July 2021 and had been the Company’s General Manager of Operations prior to that. 

Mark has considerable experience in contract management and running operations, with a proven track record in managing costs and improving operational efficiencies.  He holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Management, is a fellow of the Charted Accountants Australia and New Zealand and has completed a Masters of Finance.  

Paul Halstead, Chief Operating Officer

Paul Halstead

Paul has extensive experience in the Australasian and international engineering construction sector in many roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, Construction/Contracts Manager, and Delivery Manager. He possesses extensive exposure to project development from inception to completion, commissioning to ramp up operations, definitive feasibility studies, risk assessments, early contractor involvement, tender compilation, contract and commercial processes, and compliance systems management and reporting. Paul specialises in multi-disciplined integrated project delivery in manufacturing, fabrication, civil, structural mechanical piping, electrical, and instrument controls with completions verification and milestone performance management including project recovery and strategic business planning.

Greg Pratt, Business Development Pumping Services & Marketing Manager

Greg Pratt from Murray Engineering

Greg has 36 years’ experience in strategic and technical sales within the Mining, Industrial, Water and Wastewater sectors. His dynamic career has seen him achieve numerous qualifications within pumping and systems, ITT finance management, and strategic marketing roles. Throughout his career, Greg has held titles such as Managing Director and Executive Director as well as occupying board positions for international OEM’s. Within these roles, Greg has specialised in financial modelling & forecasting, strategic planning, ratio & cost analysis, ROI, contract development and negotiations. Greg is professionally driven by cultivating long-lasting relationships with key business stakeholders.

Martin Abbott, General Manager Business Development

Martin has accumulated 31 years of experience within the mining sector, with his career spanning many continents and spearheading numerous international projects in various managerial roles. Martin has a deep understanding of mining, stemming from his experience working his way up from a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Fitter, Leading Hand, Foreman, Manager, and Project Manager through to General Manager of Business Development here at Murray Engineering. Over his career, Martin has committed to furthering his education with qualifications completed in Mining and Resource Contractors’ Safety Training, Human Resources, Finance and OH&S related certificates from the Australian Institute of Management.
